How to deal with learning disabilities in basic math skills

read the problem carefully, solve it and then check the answer in the book or ask other people to check it for you. If it is right, you are doing a great job; if not, try to figure out what is wrong such as you might use a different number from the problem; then, solve it again. In case it is not right again, it is time to ask. You can't feel introverted to ask regardless of how easy that is because if you ask, you are foolish for 5 minutes but if you don't, you are stupid for your whole life. Tell the person you ask to explain to you, not just give you the solution. Moreover, tell him or her to give you some hints first so that you can try again and so on.

6. Do the problems you can't get at first again one day later to see if you really understand.

7. Try to figure out if there is any other way to solve the problems: this helps you to know more about the problems and remember them as well.

8. Try to take an example if there is anything unclear. For example, the problem says: Anna's age is twice the age of Brian. This seems easy to somebody but you are still confused who is older. Why don't you change it to like this: my mom's age is twice the age of me; because this sounds familiar to you than the other one. Obviously, your mom is older than you; thus, Anna is older than Brian.

9. Keep a notebook to do some solving. Some people have a bad habit of solving everything right in the book. However, the book doesn't have enough space for you. As the consequence, what you write seems small and unclear which can make you confused.

10. The most important thing of all: don't give up. Keep doing what are you doing. Maybe you make a slow progress but it is still and everything takes time. I mean, you just can't major math in 2 days.

I am confident if you follow those 10 things above, you will sure be successful in math, or at least, not flunking basic math skills.
