landscape products over to a mate's place it's all over red rover if left unreported.
We as volunteers have been very very busy and active lately in doing displays successfully at Mountains to Mangroves at Chermside, display at Shorncliffe and other displays at the Ipswich Home Show, Display at Capalaba to name a few and don't forget to come along to our annual Ekka Display event at this years event and support us together in our final phase of this raging battle against the Fire ant terrorists.
Please remember if you have any suspect ants on your property, call me and upon Your request I can come and check your yard or suspect ants and send them in to be checked under the microscope at the Fire Ant Control Centre at Oxley.
Although we have found some clusters of late, this is seen as normal, as it's expected until at least the end of 2009, when the DPI&F hopes we'll finally be eradicated of Fire ant Terrorists in not Just Brisbane but Australia! Not only that but we'll be the first country ever to be eradicated of this invasive foreign pest, SO Come on Brisbane and continue the MIGHTY EFFORT we've started & finish them off!
If you don't we'll go backwards and be even worse then when we started in 2001 and that wouldn't be a good outcome for all involved. On other biosecurity news, we are going to soon be seeing the fire ant team included under the biosecurity section of DPI & Fisheries with associated news topics such as Yellow crazy ants and Asian honey bees which have had small localised Outbreaks in Queensland lately. West Asian tiger mosquitoes have also been found close to Australian waters near Christmas Island near Cape York Peninsula.
That brings me to the end of this latest voluntary update by myself which was written from what I know and understand of current information from both myself and the DPI.
For any enquires on any issues or comments you might have regarding this Update Please contact myself 0n (07) 3289 1847 or Wayne Roberts on (07) 3310 2880.
Thanks again for your full co-operation and interest in this serious matter and we look forward to answering any of your enquiries.
