Humor: Wishes

today. But here I am. My pockets are bulging with my recently purchased pennies. I'm not talking twenty pennies, or even a hundred, I'm talking thousands of them. Each penny a magical little wish just waiting to happen.

In my new state of rationality I am viewing this as my big opportunity to change my destiny, or to perhaps get myself locked up, whichever happens first I guess. I'm not even too sure anymore which option I'd prefer? Either one right now sounds like a preferable option to going back home. I notice that I am gathering a crowd around me. I scowl at a little brown haired boy as he decides to nestle up closer to me. He enviously eyes my handful of precious pennies. I offer up a low throaty growl at him and he backs away.

I continue rhythmically tossing pennies into the wishing well. One old guy chuckles loudly and snorts out, "Lady I can make all your wishes come true". I'm wondering if he knows how close he is at this moment to the afterlife. And then it happens, I somehow get down to that last penny, my very last wish. My very last chance to make everything okay. I stare at it, but all I can think of is just one wish, and it isn't even a wish for me. I clench the penny tight in my hand, then release it high in the air as my mind chants my last wish, over and over again.

"Let kitty have all the kibbles her little heart desires. Let kitty have all the kibbles her little heart desires". The coin twirls in the air, then falls, ricochets off the side of the pond and falls somewhere off to the side of it. There is silence in the mall. I mean complete and total silence. No one moves. Everyone seems locked in the horror that is my lost last wish. Even the sarcastic old guy is looking at me to make sure that I am okay.

I stand there stunned. As I look around I actually begin to notice the crowd that I have gathered and the sympathatic looks that I am getting from them. one lady is wiping tears from her eyes, another is holding her heart, it is all just too silly. I start giggling, it breaks the tension, and sets the crowd off laughing. So there at the mall we stand, a bunch of hysterical laughing fools one of which is still in her pyjamas, chuckling and giggling like little children. The brown haired boy is staring intently into the well, he seems mesmerized by the sheer number of magic pennies in it, he bends and picks up my lost wish. An old guy smiles at me, pats me on the back, and I smile back. I feel better now.

With a smile on my lips, I turn, and head off down the mall. In my head I'm trying to figure out if my charge card has enough left on it for a new computer. I'm pretty sure that it does. I'll just have to cut a few corners for the next month or two.

Now maybe its because my last wish, never had a chance to become a real wish, but I'm thinking that the first corner I cut will be Kitty's treats for the month. Sorry Kitty.
