Take 4 steps to a successful marketing plan
First thing to remember is what Marketing means to you. Then throw that idea away. Marketing is not like what most think it to be, it is no longer the same thing as selling. Marketing stands alone in the business world. Therefore your Marketing plan needs to stand alone too, not along side your sales plans.
First step. Think. Think of your end goal or goals. This will allow you to not focus so much on the tactics that you use but on the end goal which should be the most important.
Second step. Plan. Plan the actions that you have chosen to be best to reach your goals with the plan. With the planning step you must keep in mind who the audience is, their likes and dislikes and from your research create messages that keep your company in good standing with them.
Third step. Act. It is now time to act on those thoughts and plans. This step is often approached in the wrong manner and leads to messages that are not as effective as the plan made them seem. In the action step everything must be simple, keeping it simple allows for the last step to clean up any mistakes.
Fourth step. Review. Reviewing allows for you to roll out your marketing plan effectively and not all at once. Some companies think that by using the same methods that advertising agencies do by jumping all over the different medias at once that they will have a better chance at getting their messages across. Well people it seldom works. The strategy that should be used is one similar to a Public Relations firm with a slow and much more effective roll out. By using a time table to guide and giving time for you to review the results you can fix any mistakes that may come up.
Think. Plan. Act. Review. Its the path to an effective Marketing Plan any day of the year.
