Teen advice: How to tell if you're "girl crazy"

Joshua called his mom one evening to tell her about a girl he just met, "Mom" he said, "She is so beautiful. I've never met anyone as beautiful as her." A few days later Joshua called his mom again to tell her all about another new girl he'd just met, "Mom, I can't believe I just met the most beautiful girl in the world. She is sweet, adorable and the cutest thing I've ever seen." In the course of one month Joshua had called his mom eight times to tell her about eight different most beautiful girls in the world. To his mom, it never ended. Joshua loved women.

Joshua was girl crazy. Joshua was so infatuated with girls he could think of nothing else. Walking through a department store, Joshua told three different girls how beautiful they were and went home with two of their phone numbers. Joshua saw the movie Titanic twelve times just to see the scene where the girl is painted nude.

Joshua finally went to a therapist who told him he might suffer from bipolar disorder. He said one of the symptoms of the disease was a need for a continual stream of new relationships. Was Joshua's problem a lack of commitment, an insatiable desire for women, or an illness? The therapist gave him a prescription for an anti psychotic. Was Joshua psychotic? Was the girl craziness he suffered from just a symptom of a disease?

There are plenty of factors contributing to a boy's craziness of girls, hormones, environment, scanty Victoria Secret commercials, girls walking the streets half naked, movies and television programs depicting lust and infatuation. The problem isn't with a desire for girls it is the need for a variety of girls and the lack of self control.

You know you are girl crazy when you can't stay with one girl long enough to establish a relationship. If you're constantly thinking about other girls when you are with your girl you might have a problem. A guy who is girl crazy thinks he's missing out on something better. I heard it said once, "stand them all on their heads and they all look the same." Slow down and give your girl a chance. And put blinders on if you have to.
