No one in my family except me seems to think that saving every penny possible is important. We are all far from financially secure.
There is nothing wrong with giving to others what you can - I give to my church and such...but we should limit this kind of spending as well and look out for ourselves and our futures.
My husband thinks nothing of buying a cup of coffee, an ice cream cone, a lottery ticket, etc...lots of little things all the time, not realizing that they add up. We live paycheck to paycheck. If he misses a few days of work, we may not have enough to pay the rent. That is the reality of our situation. Therefore, I get a little angry when he buys me flowers or something like that which we do not need. I know he is just trying to be sweet, but we need to save every penny we can!
My husband and my mother like to stop at garage sales frequently. This is fine if they buy something they need, but when they buy things like books and jewelry and picture frames...things we do not need, I don't like this. I don't like having to remind them all the time that we need to save every penny we can!
There is nothing wrong with being concerned about our financial futures and doing everything we can to save money. If we don't look out for ourselves, who will?
Be thrifty! Save every penny you can! You will be glad you did!
