Everyone know you need anti-virus programme to protect your file from virus attack but the catch is why pay when there are freeware:
1. AVG for your home PC virus protection (with free monthlly updates)

3. Bazooka Adware for spyware which slow down your PC as it monitor your net surfing

Other consideration:
1. Partition your harddisk and save your critical files on separate drive in case of virus attack just reformat the non-critical drive.
2. Use CD-R to backup your information as virus cannot write to it unless you load the CD.
3. Change the file option to read only. Select the file and click the right mouse, goes to property and change the attributes to read only. This file now cannot be edited.
4 If you are using window XP set the internet option to medium or high. Goes to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Internet Connection -> Internet Option ->
Privacy(tag) and select Medium or High.
5. Install Firewall. For window XP goes to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connection -> Lan(or Wirless or whatever you use for connection) select and right click goes to property and select advance (tag) and set the option Internet Firewall. You have just install your firewall.
