I think that Tottenham can indeed break into the top four this season; however as a Tottenham fan I certainly don't expect it this season. I think Martin Jol is in the process of assembling a good young group of players and year on year we could see improvement from them. However there are still concerns for the squad as far as I can see. Firstly Spurs don't have any real depth in the wide areas; they don't even really have a true out and out left winger at all, as Jol seems reluctant to give Routledge a chance. Also if Lennon is injured, which he has proved injury prone so far, we are short of options. Also Ledley King is vital to Spurs as the team's captain and leader, but he spends more time on the sidelines than playing of late and that severely hampers Tottenham's chances. I do think though having said that, they have improved the potential starting XI since last season. Younis Kaboul looks like a very good centre back, which could help the Ledley King situation. Gareth Bale will undoubtedly do a better job than Lee or Essou-Ekotto could manage. So defensively Tottenham should improve, which was there main Achilles heel last season. As for the strikers, moving the trouble-causing Mido on is a good move and Darren Bent, who Jol probably over-paid for will add an extra dimension to Tottenham's attacking options. So with a good start from Spurs, something they couldn't manage last term, I think that the top four is a possibility. I also think however that caution should be exercised as this is not yet a make or break season for Spurs, this is a team still growing and still in need of re-enforcement.
