In "Of Studies" by Sir Francis Bacon, there is one sentence "Histories make men wise; poets witty; the mathematics subtitle; natural philosophy deep; moral grave; logic and rhetoric able to contend. Abeunt studia in morse." He thinks that to study history can make us wise. Surely, we learn from history.

History can bestow us indirect experience of many things. Actually, the things learned from indirect experience are much more than those we learned directly. Our life is too limited as compared to the history of human beings, and it is impossible for us to experience all the things that happened in history to know what should we do and what we should not do. A very obvious example is that the laws, we follow the judgment done in the past. If I should argue it more, I would say, even our language is a history created tool. Most of what the teachers teach us are from history. So, history is a teacher itself.

Today, we don't find most of us like history, and it seems boring to learn history. However, we watch great movies from history stories, such as "Troy". Indirectly, we learn from history still. Smart persons draw lessons from history. When they know what some of the great person had done are wrong, they will avoid the same mistake. It can save time and money if their decision is related to investment. If they manage a country, they will try to run their countries with better strategies - history acts as a mirror.

Though most of us are not to be VIPs, we still benefit from history. We know the relationship should be conducted in a way that can smooth our journey of life. From history, we know the importance of alliance. In our life, we make friends, though we are not going to fight against some guys or gals.

We could know how to fight a battle from history, and we could know how to keep relationship with others from history, too. If you are against the view that the history is not our teacher, you are denying most of what you have learned. From history, we know how to run a country properly, and from history, we know that peace is far better than wars. Lessons from history tell us that we a citizen of this tiny globe, and we know the multi-cultures. History teaches us to probe and develop the world, too, by following the work that has been done in history.

History teaches us in so many aspects. It presents us with indirect experience, and gives us wisdom. It would be silly to recite the events and years in history. Rather, we should know the stories, and learn lessons from them. If something good had happened, we know why it was led to good results; if something bad had happened, we know the causes. Therefore, we can plan our life and career well with the wisdom drawn from history. We learn to analyse relationship, events, and the course of life.

So, there is no reason that we deny that history is not our teacher
