Christmas

Santa Claus, Christmas and religions

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. A time for family's to gather and friends calling you or sending you cards to decorate the mantel or the tops of television entertainment centers. I certainly wouldn't disagree that Christmas has become more of a tradition than a religion, but for most of us who do celebrate this joyous time of the year we are reminded that out of this tradition a tiny baby was born and that same baby grew to be a man, a teacher, a prophet who saved all of us from damnation. No matter whats been derived from and instilled into our Christmas celebrations our Saviour is and always will be our focus in this tradition. Our children take the physical form of our Lord. For they are certainly gifts from God and they are the first ones who will enter into heaven and deemed to be the most loved of God.

Santa Claus was just a man, a bishop who took heart in giving to the most unfortunate. He became an iconic symbol of Christmas as the jolly old Saint Nick with a bowl full of jelly all dressed in red and white fluffing lacing the ends of his jacket and hat. And while he's only just an icon of our celebration he's definitely not far from the reason why he gave to begin with, because it was so written that giving was better than receiving and giving with all your heart and not having within your heart to expect something in return was indeed the apple of God's eye. Another words anyone who exhibited the kindness that the mere man that was a bishop to begin with was the in favor of God. Santa Claus was someone and still is someone who personifies the gift of giving without wanting something in return.
