Mille Bornes is an auto racing card game that was introduced to the U.S. in 1962. It is a French game that uses the concept of the lttle stone markers seen along the roadside in Europe bearing a fiqure and the name of a town. At one time this game actually out sold Monopoly.
The object of the game is to complete a trip of exactly 1000 miles. Along the way, players encounter varies hazards which are designated by cards such as Out of gas, Flat tire, Speed limit, Accident, and Red light cards. You may overcome the hazard by having the corresponding remedy card such as, Extra tank, Repair, Driving ace and Right of way.
One strategy in the game is to Coup Fourre ( refering to fencing, counterthrust). If you are given a hazard card and have the coresponding remedy card, you may imediately use it and you are then entitled to another turn.
You have to try to remember which cards have been played by whom, but it is very entertaining and takes some skill. I was able to find the game at "Toys Are Us"
The game is Manufactured & Distributed by Winning Moves Games and is a Tradmark of Hasbro,Inc.
