The debate of working moms versus stay at home moms is irrelevant because if a mother is going back to work she most likely has no other choice. There is no question in my mind that the mother who has to work loves her child any less than the mother who has the luxury of staying at home. I love my daughter with all my heart, but if I want to keep her clothed, keep a roof over her head, see her have future than I have to work. I do not want to work; I want to stay at home with her and be with her when she takes her first steps. Do I have the option to stay at home? Not if I want to live in my house and be able to pay my bills.
There is not a debate because the mothers out there getting up at 5 in the morning to get ready before they wake their kids, dress them, feed them, and cart them off to daycare/school love their children just as much as the mothers who wake up with their kids when they feel like it and spend all day with their children. Being a stay at home mother is really hard work, but it great work to have to endure each day. Believe me at times it is a thankless job, but a job you know you are qualified for every time you are surrounded by your child's laughter. Being a working mom is hard work since you do not get to hear every laugh your child makes and you may very well miss his/her first steps, first words, first everything.
The debate is irrelevent because life, bills, cost of living all dictate your fate once your child is born. It does not mean that the stay at home mom has it easy or loves her child more. Both sets of mothers have it hard because either way they are trying to do what is best for their child and that is not always easy to figure out.
