Spa techniques for getting rid of cellulite

Cellulite is an unsightly problem that most women, large or small, will experience from time to time in their lives. Cellulite is often characterized as the "cottage cheese" looking dimpling that usually crops up on the upper thighs, the buttocks and the tummy regions (though cellulite can strike pretty much anywhere depending upon our body mass and structure). Many women turn to spa treatments in order to either lessen the appearance of, or blast away completely, the cellulite on their bodies.

There are several different types of treatments that can be done for this, the most common being the "Body Wrap". This is usually when the body is covered in certain substances like oils, clays, muds, or other things that will break up the cellulite beneath the skin. The body is then "wrapped" in clean cloth, or sometimes plastic wrap, and kept warm for a period of time (with heat lamps, infrared light, warm towels, etc.) until the wrap is removed and the body is scrubbed clean. Sometimes the body is massaged before or after the wrap in order to aid in the breaking up of cellulite. The major problem with this treatment is the same thing that housewives have found with the "Saran wrap" method...you wrap your body in something, sweat away some inches, smooth the skin, but eventually the cellulite comes back.

Another common method used is when a certain type of device that rolls and uses suction to break up the cellulite beneath the skin is applied in either a circular motion or an up and down motion on the problem areas. Certain oils are also applied that seep into the skin and help to "bust up" the cellulite so that the "roller massage" is able to work more efficiently. Each different spa has a different type of treatment which uses this technology, you need only ask.

There are also some spas that use techniques which involve injecting certain substances beneath the skin to break up the cellulite and then eventually allow the body to excrete it naturally. This is less invasive than Liposuction, but works in somewhat the same way.

All in all, there are many spa treatments that can rid the body of nasty cellulite, and many more that claim to be able to do the same thing. The best way to find a spa which specializes in treatments that actually work is by doing your research...word of mouth research is the best.
