I honestly have not been "ripped off" on Ebay thus far! I believe it is for the following reasons I will list in the form of my advice to Ebay buyers!
I feel it is simple to buy on Ebay, not so difficult, but maybe that is just me! I do love to shop! Obsession comes to mind! LOL
Advice point #1) Once you have found the item you want to purchase...check the starting bid to make sure it is what you want to pay then ADD it to the Seller's shipping and handling charges! (That is what you will pay, don't fool yourself to thinking you aren't paying shipping costs, because YOU ARE! No matter what the charge is, I consider it part of the price of the item.
Advice point #2) Check where the item is coming from...Is it coming from another country? Maybe you want to not purchase it as it will take longer to get and shipping is higher, and I feel (personally) it is risky that you will receive anything. I have purchased internationally, but I always get scared I won't receive it.
Advice point #3) PayPal is the safest way to pay (the only way for me)...it is also the only form I accept as a seller! Safest for everyone and they will give you money back if need be!
Advice point #4) DO check the feedback...when there is a negative, read it! THEN, read the person's feedback that is leaving the negative, a lot of times, they have more negatives them self and it is hard to pin that on the seller! (I have 100% positive, but I have seen some folks leave negative for ridiculous reasons.) If the negative is a good reason...please don't bid!
Advice point #5) Check pictures, and all information seller has offered you. Check measurements and always email the seller if you have a question BEFORE auction has ended.
Advice point #6) Always make sure you are eligible to bid with that seller, for example, if they don't accept checks..and you want to pay by check...don't just bid anyways, because that seller has stated they don't accept checks...many sellers will go ahead and re-list the item. They have the right due to their description stating such.
Advice point #7) If you are unhappy with what you receive, sellers really are helpful in trying to make you happy, if not, notify Ebay!
Happy Bidding! I do love Ebay; buying and selling!
