This is the worst idea I have ever heard of. Forcing young children to wear uniforms takes away a child's individuality. Don't our teachers do enough of that already? I am a father of five children, and I will not force my kids to wear a school uniform for these reasons. By making them wear school uniforms they are making them conform. That is not why I send my kids to school. I send them to school so they can learn. Besides we as parents have enough to worry about with the costs alone for school. My wife, and I should not have to worry about coming up with enough money to pay for a uniform my kids don't want to wear, and I don't want to make them wear. These are kids, and they have enough things to worry about. With the constant focus on grades, getting into the right college, there boyfriend/girlfriend, and saving money for a new car I feel that these things are enough.
Parents need to stop, and ask themselves one question. How bored were you in school? Now imagine how boring would school be if everyone there wore the same thing every single day. I feel that making them wear uniforms would be the equivalent to putting a high school senior with ADD in a 8th grade math class. That student would get so bored that he would look for some excitement somewhere. Even if they had to make it themselves. All that we would be doing is asking for trouble. Our schools have security guards, and metal detectors. Lets not make the problem worse.
