The story behind wearing cosmetics

Wearing make-up....

As a woman of 25 I have probably been wearing make-up for a good 10 years! Does it make me cocky'; make me look ten times better than I would without it - no? For me make-up gives that little extra confidence which is vital I believe to leading a happy and successful life.
We live in a world where the images of 'perfection' we see and are compared to have been prepared by make-up artists and the ever faithful airbrushing. Women of all ages cannot help compare themselves with these images as unrealistic as they are and the men we love fantasies about them.

So if they are allowed to digitally alter their image in order to make themselves fit the mold and appear more beautiful then why can't we, average' women going about our daily routines hide or enhance our natural assets with a bit of make-up?
It is not about 'needing' or 'not needing' make-up, its not even about conforming to the impossible standards set out by the on-screen beauties though these may motivate us, it is about feeling happy. If you can hide the fact that you have been out all night and have big bags under your eyes then why not? We are modern women and have the right to have fun and still come across as innocent! A little deception adds to the mystery of we ladies after all!
If a person feels confident there is nothing he or she cannot achieve. An unconfident, withdrawn and insecure person will only find other ways to masque their pain if not through wearing make-up.
As for the effects on your skin, if you wash, cleanse and adopt a good moisturizing routine then you will not need to worry about having bad skin. Having bad skin is more to do with hormones and diet than make-up and if your skin does become an issue then there is medication available. Then on the plus side, the blemish wand does wonders for hiding the odd spot or two.
The bottom line is if make-up makes you a little happier then wear it! Getting the odd whistle from a builder does make us smile even if we rise above their gestures at the time!
