I had married a very independent woman. After she became pregnant all that followed was my fault. The morning sickness, the bitching, throwing things, and snack urges. Man this was what we both wanted and I was getting the brunt of it everyday.
I this was going to work it was up to me. She wouldn't even take the Lamaze class. I wanted to be ready as I could so I got the exercises from a nurse who had copied them for me. I studied them and shared time with my wife and we read each night about the growth of our baby and then we would pick out names. And when I had time I would massage my wifes feet or back and that would put her in a better mood. And I couldn't forget the pickles, ice cream and salty chips. After the third month of pregnancy things mellowed out and we could go for short walks and talk about our baby on the way.
All was fine until 7:50 A.M. as I was just about to leave for work. And suddenly it was time to rush to the hospital. Contractions that would be around four to seven minutes apart, and she was getting worn out by noon. The head nurse said she needed to do the breathing techniques she learned in class, and I responded that she refused to take the class. She looked at me and said ,"oh my god" and walked out of the room. I then followed her and demanded a two minute refresher course from what I had studied and she then said good luck. As I entered the room the profanities were flying out so fast that everyone in the room had their ears on fire. I then asked all nurses but one to leave for ten minutes. After they left I got right into my wifes face ( six inches ) and demanded her to breathe as I was, and after ten minutes the breathing techniques were a success and the nurses couldn't believe what I had accomplished and our son was born within that hour.
