HOMEWARD
You walked into a wasteland
with the sun in your wake,
and the breath of life
on your lips.
You gathered the shadows
in the palm of your hand,
and blew them away
with a kiss.
The heat of your touch
chased the cold of the day,
and the still, damp chill
of the night.
You flashed your smile
through the darkness,
and flooded my soul
with your light.
You carried my burdens
so I could stand tall,
and lifted my eyes
to the sky.
You guided my footsteps
so I wouldn't fall.
I never once questioned
you why.
You didn't ask me
to give you my heart,
you walked in and made
it your own.
You just picked up
my heartstrings,
gently pulled, and quietly
led me home.

Flaws hide well,
Beneath the blanket of love.
