Professional wrestling in the world of sports

I would define a sport as an activity that takes athletic ability, and skill to perform. Wrestling falls into this category. Not everyone can do the things they do. If you stop, and think about it wrestling is the oldest sport known to man. Tribes in the ancient world wrestled for dominance among each other. Now if we use my definition of what a sport is, let's compare wrestling with some of the top sports today.

Baseball:
I am a big fan of both, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be baseball. In baseball you must be able to run, throw, catch, and hit a round ball with a round bat. A lot of people will say that they can do these things, but can they do it at the level these people do? I don't think so. If they could they would be playing for these teams, and not sitting at home. Baseball is given credit for having the most grueling schedule of any sport. The play 162 games a year. This does not include spring training, the all star game, or the playoffs. The baseball regular season runs from April to the beginning of October. Most ball players then take the rest of the year off. That is a six month break. Some ball players will play in leagues like winter ball to help develop there skills. Speaking of skills, Major League Baseball has what is called the minor leagues. This is where young players go to develop there skills to play at the major league level.

In wrestling you have to be able to run, catch, and hit. Some of you right now are saying what do they have to catch. Well, they have to be able to catch there opponents in mid air. If not that person, or both people will get hurt. Then there are some people who are saying what do they have to hit? They don't really hit anybody, because wrestling is fake. Well let me inform you of something. Wrestling is not as fake as you may think it is. Bret Hart was quoted saying "I have punched, and kicked people in the face full blast, and I have never hurt anybody." They may not be trying to hurt each other, but they try to make contact. Professional wrestling's schedule is no walk in the park. Not by a long shot. Hulk Hogan told a reporter that in one year he wrestled nearly 400 times. In case you forgot there are only 365 days in a year, and to top that off there is no off season in wrestling. There is no six month break for these guys. That is not unless they get hurt.

Football:
Here is a team sport that uses the word I more then anything else. In football you have to be able to run, jump, maneuver, carry, throw,
