this is not healthy for a woman's body. Your body has natural processes and methods of cleaning itself and depo only interrupts this. You may also experience headaches, dizziness, nervousness, nausea, fatigue, and depression. These are all symptoms we try to avoid, right?
The last reason and maybe the most important reason why Depo Provera is the worst type of birth control out there comes from my own personal experience. Depo is a true nightmare for those who plan to have children soon after stopping the injection. Depo can cause a delay in the return of a woman's fertility because it can more than 6 months for the drug to leave the body. During this wait of 6 months or more, it is common for women to continue to experience all the symptoms they had before their injection expired. Depo can make a woman who is trying to conceive an emotional wreck since it also comes with symptoms that you would find in a typical pregnant woman. The last thing a woman wants is to have the hope that she may be pregnant be replaced with disappointment due to false pregnancy symptoms caused by her most recent birth control. It could take up to 18 months for a woman to conceive after Depo. In a recent study, it was shown that 68% of women will conceive in 12 months, 83% will conceive after 15 months, and 93% will conceive after 18 months. The amount of time it takes to conceive after depo is not affected by how many injections you received. That is a long wait for someone wanting so badly to be a mother. That wait could be extended if your period does not return for months after your last injection. This is also a very common side effect. Some women will experience no menstruation for months while others continue to bleed for weeks. With Depo Provera, nothing is predictable.
The information in this article comes from the many months of research I did on Depo Provera, unfortunately, after I had already learned my lesson the hard way. None of the information in this article should replace your doctor's advice, of course. Depo is not for women with hypertension, liver disease, unexplained or irregular vaginal bleeding, or women with a history of stroke or breast cancer, just to name a few. Talk to your doctor and discuss ANY questions you have before beginning the injection, if you still don't believe that it is the absolute worst type of birth control out there!
