SUMMARY
Scientists are continuously researching, studying, and making gains to understand affects of the different learning disabilities. Parents, teachers, and other professionals must strive to work together to make early detections of a child's learning disability, and to give the correct assistance. These invaluable works will make certain a child has a much greater opportunity of developing skills necessary to lead a successful and productive life.
Ann Logsden writes in "Understanding LDs - Common Characteristics of Learning Disabled Students," making a referral for is the first important step in having a child assessed to diagnose a possible learning disability. The process varies from one school district to the next; as soon as a possible disability is detected, make a referral.
Learning disabilities are life-long conditions; however, with the correct support and proper interventions, children with learning disabilities can be successfully in school. Parents can be of great assistance in helping their child by learning strategies for dealing with their child's specific learning disability, encouraging strengths, and being a proactive member of the educational system through continuous work with professionals.
The road ahead is a demanding journey; however our children are worth the effort.
