Baby sign language basics

Learning to use sign language with a baby is quickly gaining more acceptance with parents as an early way to communicate with their infant. Research studies have shown that using sign language with a hearing or deaf child has the wonderful benefit of improving a child's intelligence quota, with no harm to gaining speech development.

Parents of deaf children have long known that by using sign children can and will communicate earlier in basic ways, long before they can walk or talk. What is new however is that baby signing is now being promoted to hearing parents with hearing children.

Explosive growth is now being seen in this happy endeavor. There are many ways to help learn and then teach a baby to sign. Many classes in baby sign are being offered. Along with books, flash cards, websites and videos.

Baby sign differs slightly from regular sign language, and not all people in the deaf community approve of this.

That being said, research is proving signing with a baby to be beneficial. Parents in the hearing world might want to consider, giving their baby a head start with language development by learning sign language with their infant.

Just imagine how nice it would be to communicate with your baby earlier than ever.
