Guide to shopping online for plus size women

Online shopping has become the alternative to a frustrating, in-store experience. For plus size women picking out clothes on a computer is better than crying in a clothing store's dressing room. Unfortunately, not enough stores are carrying trendy styles in plus sizes. As more department stores emerge, more women are surfing for clothes and accessories on the internet. Here are some of the sites worth visiting, if you're a plus size woman.

LaneBryant.com: The most trendy and popular store for voluptuous women has more to buy online. Their intimate sister store, Cacique (ka-sheek) also has a wide range of undergarments including lacey bras, bustiers, teddys, thongs, boyshorts and sheer panties. Bras sizes go from single D to triple D between 32-46. Some in-store discounts are also available online as well. You could apply for a Lane Bryant charge card online too.

Younkers.com, Dillard's.com and Herbergers.com: All of these stores are expanding their plus size clothing lines. Tommy Hilfiger, Realivity, Covington, Nine West and Liz Clairborne are featuring trendier professional and casual looks. Sizes go from 12w-28w. Their shoe departments are carrying more wide-shaped footwear with sandals, heels (open-toed and closed), boots and pumps. Storewide clearance sales are available online, in addition to charge card applications.

H&M stores: H&M is continuing to be a favorite for TLC's (The Learning Channel's) show What Not to Wear. You can go to the site What Not to Wear site to link on or go directly to H&M.com. Their clothing apparel has made great strides in providing for the up-in-coming woman from ages 25-50.

Outlet stores in Williamsburg and Story City, Iowa have links to shop online. Old Navy, Catherine's, UnionBay, Lady FootLocker and Nautica are offering in-store clearances to online shoppers. In addition, extra 10% is available for customers who apply for the stores' charge cards.

Here's to a successful, shopping venture courtesy of the internet.
