There's a dragon under my bed
"Help!" said Fred
"There's a dragon under my bed."
"Don't be silly". Said Mum
"It's just dust and biscuit crumbs."
Dad said, "Come to bed."
"You're nothing but a sleepy head."
"I can't, I'll choke with the dragons fire and smoke."
"We'll have a look, right after this book."
Fred sat on his bed and cuddled brown Ted.
Dad finished the book, and then they both had a look,
see no dragon Fred, lives under your bed.
Mum put out the light and kissed him goodnight,
Fred shut his eyes tight and curled up in a ball
As Mum reached the stairs, Fred started to call
"He's coming, I hear him snuffling along."
"He's coming to get me, I know I'm not wrong."
Mum entered the room and put on the light,
"Go to sleep Fred, I bid you goodnight."
The light went out, "Now please don't shout!"
As she turned to go down the stairs,
"Go to sleep Fred," and say your prayers
Fred clasped his hands tight
And soon he got a fright
As the snuffling and snorting got louder and louder,
Fred pictured the dragon,
a mean scary growler!
It rumbled and grumbled and called out, "Fred!"
As it coughed, red flames shot out from the bed
and a frightened Fred hid under his quilt.
Then, with a surprise his bed gave a small jilt.
"It's out!" cried Fred, "from under my bed"
"It's coming to eat me under my spread."
And out of the darkness a gruff voice said,
"Fred can I cuddle you up in your bed?"
From the sheets Fred uncovered
He sat aghast at what he discovered.
A tiny wee dragon all smudgy and green
Hid behind his wings
too shy to be seen.
"I'm scared of the dark!" the dragon remarked.
"I live alone with nowhere to roam"
"When I get into a muddle"
"I've got no one to cuddle"
"I'm a lonely wee Dragon that lives under your bed"
"Please can you be my best friend, oh please, oh please Fred"
Fred sat on his bottom and looked through the dark,
at the lonely wee dragon not moving a mark.
Fred smiles and giggled and fluffed up his pillow,
"I know what I'll call you, I'll call you willow!"
The dragon jumped up with great lumbering feet,
a dragons fine welcome to friends he may greet.
"The darkness of night may fill me with fright."
The dragon called willow jumped up on the bed,
and cuddled up closely right next to Fred.
They both fell asleep,
all happy and dreaming.
New bedtime friends their hearts all a beaming.
Willow and Fred
Loved going to bed.
Each night when Mum turned out the light,
boy and dragon snuggled up tight.
But this is a secret never to be told,
never to Mum or the dragon be sold.
And if you're ever up at night,
with a bump or silly fright,
just wish for a bedtime dragon to come
It'll keep you all safe,
all cuddly and warm.
And they'll promise to be your very best friend
Every single night right up tothe end.

Last night as I went to bed.
A very large creature blew on my head.
"My hair is on fire," I said with despair.
And thickening
There's a dragon under my bed
"Help!" said Fred
"There's a dragon under my bed."
"Don't be silly". Said Mum
"It's just dust
If I'd have a lizard face
A long pointy tail
If I spit fire
And had wings,
would you call me a dragon?
Or would you just laugh?

Whose name is not "Puff"
Is still very very tough
He doesn't live by the sea
But in the desert sand
