Author's Note: This is a true story. I was incarcerated for 60 days in the Maricopa County Estrella Jail in South Phoenix for removing my children from domestic violence across state lines. These prisoners were not sentenced, but untried, unconvicted prisoners of the state for the sole purpose of lining the pockets of Joe Arapio and dehumanizing them enough to keep them coming back at the slightest violation after setting them up to fail.
