Should employers be held to higher standards in their treatment of employees

Employers and employees should have equal standing and give respect one to the other.
Without the employer people would have to be self-employed in all walks of life. Without employees businesses would not grow, unless the business was either family owned or a co-operative.
The give and take in the workplace should be flexible enough to cater for family responsibilities whether it be for the employee's or the employer's family.
If the employee expects a high standard of facilities in the workplace then the employee should expect to give a high standard of service and commitment to the employer.
Open communication is the first, middle and last requirement for any negotiation between employees and employers. Whether a small business employing one or two people, or a gigantic world-wide company employing thousands, equality of rights and expectations must be balanced.
If there is no give and take on both sides, then the workplace is not the place to spend a third of ones life, whether an employer or an employee.
