Plus size women fashion tips: Holiday must haves

Everyone I know who is a 'plus size' wears black, yes black is seen as a slimming colour, but you don't have to wear black! Be proud of the person you are, be proud of your curves, don't be afraid to step out of that 'black' box!

The first thing to know is your actual dress size. So many women buy clothes in a smaller size in the hope they can squeeze into them, take it from me, I know from experience, it's not going to happen on holiday! Let's face it, who wants to go on holiday and have to watch what they eat and drink in the hope they will fit into that outfit before the end of the two weeks? I certainly don't! There is nothing that looks worse than someone squashing themselves into an outfit that is too small, every lump and bump will show, the overall effect will be so much more flattering if the clothes fit.

The first holiday must have is a sarong. They don't just need to be used on the beach as a cover-up, they can look great over a pair of leggings to cover the wobbly bits too! Invest in some vest tops, don't be afraid to go for some brighter colours, they can be teamed with a loose-fitting white blouse, which can be left open or buttoned only halfway up exposing a bright vest and if you're daring and proud, a flash of cleavage too! I love long, flowing gypsy style skirts, they can be dressed up or dressed down, they come in a multitude of colours and most have elasticated or adjustable waistbands too - a must for anyone, regardless of size if you are in a hot country on holiday. Personally, I hate wearing anything which makes me feel restricted when it is hot! I have seen some lovely dresses which are strappy, show a small hint of that gorgeous cleavage, flow out from the hips with an uneven hemline, some even have elasticated backs in them for comfort, again these can be dressed up or down. Can even be teamed with a pretty bright, contrasting scarf, which will draw attention upwards. Wider straps on vest tops or dresses can make your shoulders look narrower which could be something to bear in mind when buying your holiday wardrobe. Good shoes are a must have, comfy flip-flops for day-time wear, change them for a pair of kitten-heeled sandals in the evening, and you can transform a daytime outfit instantly. Trousers which end just above the ankle, with a wide-leg are flattering too, ensure that they fit correctly, dress them up with a nice pair of shoes, maybe try a nice floaty blouse with a splash of colour in it too. Don't be afraid to wear white, a long, white skirt looks gorgeous and will mix with any colour you choose. A few well chosen items and you can mix and match your wardrobe and no-body will ever know!

The most essential thing for anyone to wear is a smile. A smile costs nothing, it shows you are happy in your body, be proud of your curves they show you are all woman. Stand tall, shoulders back, chest out and believe me, you will appear a size smaller instantly! The most important thing is that your friends and family love you as you are, enjoy your holiday with them, after all that is what you are there for!
