LOVE
How do you know if you truthfully miss someone? Is it when you're awake and you get that heavy longing in your throat because you need them to make you feel better or is it when you dream that you've opened a screen door to a patio to find them waiting for you in the summer sunrise? A dream that fills you to the brim with joy and you run to them; embracing them, their hands in your hair, yours in theirs, their arms around you and yours around them... Then the alarm goes off and the joy is replaced by that heavy longing again because you miss them - you need them to make you feel better.
True love, real unabated love, is not how much you miss someone since missing them in an expression of your need for them; your selfish want of them - for their love, for their care, and for their attention.
True love is shown with true care, but what is true care? Is it when you take a break from building a staircase to call them because you knew they needed to talk to someone or is it the nightmare you had last night in which they were blinded and deafened and you protected them from a predatory man and guided them through a war torn cityscape that could be a symbol of their emotional mind right now? Is it hoping they won't go away because you know how lonesome they got the last time (this is your mind entirely on them without thinking of how lonesome you were or are.)
True love is shown by true care which means being there whenever you can, wherever you are, and being fully aware that they will never see it or understand it - though you hope they do - you know it's better to just be there for them, and to not say, "look, look what I did for you" because your care for them is beyond your own personal gain even if they will never see or acknowledge your love.
