How to increase traffic to your blog

There are several ways that you can increase traffic to your blog.

First of all, every time you write a new post you can use a pinging service such as Pingoat(http://www.pingoat.com /). This will alert RSS services that there is new content and your blog will appear for a short time on newly updated page of these sites.

Second, it is worth using Feedburner (http://www.feedburner.com) to burn a feed for your blog. There are two advantages to this. First, that your site feed looks nice and can be read in any reader. Second, that Feedburner does some of the pinging for you.

Third, get your blog listed in blog directories. There's quite a comprehensive list on Pingoat (http://www.pingoat.com/goat/r esources).

Fourth, submit the links of individual posts as well as the link for the blog homepage to Google (http://www.google.com/addurl/ ), Yahoo(http://submit.search.yah oo.com/free/request) and MSN (http://search.msn.com/docs/su bmit.aspx?FORM=WSDD2). It may take a while, but eventually your blog will get listed.

Fifth, consider using article marketing. Turn your blog posts into free to reprint articles and include a link back to your blog. The articles will get picked up by websites and ezines and users will click on your link and come to your blog. Good article marketing sites are Article Marketer (http://www.articlemarketer.co m/?a_aid=a10bd96b) and EzineArticles (http://www.ezinearticles.com)

Finally, link to your blog in forum postings and email signatures. You never know when someone will click.

These strategies all take time, but if you use them all, traffic to your site will increase.
