2007-08 Fantasy football draft rankings: Quarterbacks

Fantasy football is upon us for the 2007-2008 season. With that comes concerns over drafting your team. Quarterback is probably the most important position when selecting your fantasy team. The quarterback touches the ball every play and is usually responsible for most of the points and yardage, especially in today's game. So, selecting the right quarterback can make or break your team.

With that in mind, let's look at the top five quarterbacks you should be looking at.

1. Peyton Manning. What can be said about Peyton that hasn't been said before. His ability to keep his head, and consequently the rest of the team, in the game puts him above every other player. Now that he has his Super Bowl ring, I look for him to be even more focused. He no longer has to worry about not getting it. He's proven himself, proven his leadership skills, now he is just building on them. Watch leagues around the net, the team with Peyton generally is on top.

2. Tom Brady. Don't let one year without a Super Bowl ring cause you go give up on this excellent field general. Tom has the ability to read the field and put the ball just where it needs to be. The quality players on the field with him, only adds to his danger. Opponents can't key on Tom without leaving themselves open for attack from others. Most likely, if a team is on top of their league and they don't have Peyton, they have Tom.

3. Carson Palmer. Carson had a breakout year last year. He had the receivers to accentuate his talent and a running back to take the heat off and keep linebackers honest. I look for him to have another stellar year. His numbers should match last year, which will put many teams in their league playoffs, easily.

4. Marc Bulger. Marc is another on of those quaterbacks who quietly has a great fantasy year, each year. He has the ability to put up solid numbers and connect with the right receivers at the right time. He is generally mistake free and can boost any teams fantasy numbers.

5. Vince Young. Vince came in late last year and, as a rookie, posted some impressive numbers. The offense he took over had been designed for Steve McNair, and most people feel that Vince has more raw talent than Steve. With a year under his belt and the starting position from the start, look for Vince to post some great fantasy numbers, as well as put Tennessee back in the playoffs.

Players to watch:
Drew Brees. He had some good numbers last year and could post another good season. If paired with some good backs and receivers on your fantasy team, could get you into the playoffs.

Matt Hasselbeck. Without Shaun Alexander, he could either struggle or breakout. Shaun took some opportunities, but may have taken some of the heat as well. If the top QBs are taken, he could provide some spark for your team.

Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben should be back this year. Off-the-field incidents last year took focus and attention from his on-field ability. With those behind him, he could have a season like he had when he took the Steelers to the Super Bowl.
