Tips for learning how to swim

Hello reader. I'm guessing you're a non-swimmer. I am a qualified swimming teacher with many years experience teaching all ages and abilities. I'm hoping that you would love to learn to swim. I'm also hoping you are willing to try this little experiment with me.
I'd like to teach you... without meeting you!
Obviously at some point you will need to be in the pool. For now though you should read on and begin to imagine yourself doing some of the tasks I set for you, before you go anywhere near the water. This experiment will run in a series of articles. Feedback in the way of you writing an article on learning to swim through my experiment would be great... think about it after wards.
Lesson one begins at home.
Preparation is vital. Choose a great towel that not only dries you well but makes you feel warm and comfortable when you put it round your shoulders. Your swimming attire should also be comfortable, if you are at all embarrassed in it then buy new!Get some goggles - you don't have to spend a fortune, just make sure they fit well. Practice wearing them in the bath too. Take shampoo, talc, deodorant, all the things that will make you feel clean, fresh and great about yourself.
You are now ready to go to the pool, but... don't just go. Choose an off-peak time but not one that will be too empty. It's comforting to have a few people around you.
Now you are ready... see you at the pool.
