Reasons not to believe in God

The Biblical God is actually a pretty modern creation as far as deities go. Humankind existed for thousands of years prior to his invention. And, he has a few thousand predecessors as well. Allah and God are the current "bad boys" of Mount Olympus, replacing Zeus and his peers.

I find it really amazing that Christian gentiles totally believe in the Hebrew God of the Torah, but can't seem to agree with the Jews about who and what Jesus was. If God was a Hebrew, which he claims to be in the Bible, and he only spoke to the Jews, then it would only stand to reason that the Jews would know what they were talking about. After all, he is their chief deity. So, I would assume that Adam and Eve were Jewish. Right? And, that if we all descended from them, then we would all indeed be Jewish also. Allah, of course, has a similar disposition and most likely descended from God or vise-versa.

Now, if we are to believe totally in said God, we would be roasting bulls on the sabbath day, stoning and smiting our neighbors and selling our daughters to the highest bidder. We would also NOT be coveting our neighbors asses.

But.. wait... the New Testament arrives and a miracle happens! All the old rules and regulations in the Old Testament are suddenly moot. No more stoning and smiting.. well not because God told someone to do it at least. Funny thing though, some of the things in the Old Testament, like Adam and Eve and Moses and Noah, still are valid.

The Bible has become sort of a Jewish, Christian smorgasbord consisting of kosher meats and the body and blood of Jesus..YUK.

I'm sorry, I just can't buy any of that story. Now, the Creator Spirit of the Native Americans, the Earth Goddess of the Pagans, and the big bang of the Atheists I can go along with. That doesn't mean that I believe that any of the above are the reason we are here. But, they are viable alternatives as far as my belief system is concerned.

The fact is, I don't have a clue how we got here, why we are here, or where we are going when we die. Neither do any other of the billions of people who inhabit this planet, so I am definitely not alone.

But, there is one thing that I am quite sure of. If there is any truth in the God concept and I am called to see him in heaven at the end of my earthly days.. I am not going. I refuse. If I don't feel comfortable in a Christian church or a Jewish Synagogue, than why would I want to spend an eternity in the company of the Jewish, Christian God? That would be a living Hell for me. Same applies to Allah and the 71 virgins.. I wonder if that applies to women as well as men. Hmmmmm... 71 virgin men awaiting to tend to my every need. Allah is looking better and better all the time.

Please don't take any of this rambling on to heart. I truly believe that whatever religion a person chooses to follow or not follow is entirely their decision. And, I am fine with that decision as long as they don't try and shove it down my throat. I just couldn't resist bringing a little sardonic humor into the topic.

May God and Allah forgive me. (Chuckle)
