balanced with a large expanse of green area where visitors are able to relax unperturbed. There is a bicycle renting facility where people can rent bicycles and cycle around the park.
Worthy of note is the National Museum of Anthropology, one on the world's great museums, boasting an extensive collection of artifacts, spanning some 100,000 square feet. This is one of the finest anthropological museums anywhere in the world and certainly the most important in Mexico.
Mexican cuisine brings together a wide range of flavors in colorful and delicious dishes. The key to Mexican gastronomy is the ingredients most commonly used: corn, beans, chili peppers, vegetables and meat. What is particularly striking is how Mexicans are able to utilize every aspect of the food chain to their benefit. For example: corn is grown on stalks which are used to feed cattle. The corn on the cob is eaten and the actual cob is used to feed animals. There is no wastage. This cuisine, which can be enjoyed in marketplaces, diners and gourmet restaurants alike, is a demonstration of the identity, beliefs, customs and cohesion of the Mexican people.
For Mexicans, eating out is an experience for the family and an opportunity to socialize. It is not unusual to find long queues outside a restaurant, everyone waiting their turn to enjoy Enchiladas , Chili con carne or guacamole . Eating in the marketplace brings its own treats, most popular among them are the well-known varieties of tacos awash with cream and guacamole.
Mexico City has a particularly active nightlife. There is an almost endless choice of options - jazz clubs, loud all-night discos, Cuban and salsa clubs, classical concerts, opera, philharmonic orchestras, romantic trios, chamber music, dance clubs, rock & roll bars, Broadway style theater presentations, big name rock concerts, folkloric dinner shows, mariachi shows and Flamenco shows.
Organized tours, taxis, city buses or the modern subway system should be considered over attempting to drive in the city as the traffic can be quite daunting. This is the city of the green bug Volkswagen taxis which are found practically within a minute of each other most of the time. The leather and silver markets are quite inviting and offer good value for money; but like all big cities, it is important to be careful as tourists are often charged higher prices.
Mexico City is truly one of the most interesting cities in the world; an incredible place to visit. There is something interesting and entertaining for everyone. For those seeking a taste of authentic Mexican culture this is the place to visit.
