Accidents can happen anywhere, at anytime, and it always seems to be when you are least expecting it, Hence the name, 'Accident'! There is never anything you can really do to stop it, but you can prepare yourself.
One of the most common types of accidents are with cars, you cant stop it, but you can prepare for it. The one of the best way to be prepare is with knowledge! If you had the chance to hit some one head on and possible get hurt, or to turn sideways, and possible not get hurt, what would you do? Well, you are not just born knowing this, and though some say its common sense, I say my favorite quote "Common sense is not so common"! Now after reading the possible things you could do and learning the affects of both, do you think you are going to use it in life? Yeah!
The second best way to prepare, is to prepare, using things such as first aid kits, safety bags, cell phones, and a vast verity of other thing! Starting back to school next week, I have got all my school supplies, a new outfit, and a cell phone in my purse! Now, Don't get me wrong, I L~O~V~E to text my friends and hear all the gossip, but at school, my phone is for safety reasons, like if we are coming home early, or if something else happened that i would need to contact some one for!
Horses are the same as cars and school, in the sense of no-matter how reliable they are, accidents can still always happen, but if your prepared, the affect can be minimum! I ride a Crabbit Arabian, and we ride in an Ariana! In the stable I keep some things for both me and my Arab. in case of an accident!
Me-
Band-aids
hydrogen peroxide
neosporin
a small pack of butterfly stitches
an ice pack
fresh water
My cell phone is always in my pocket
My Horse-
Band-aid Wraps
Disinfecting spray
Disinfecting cream
vets number
fresh water
Common sense may not be so common- but accidents are, so always be as prepared as you can be, research things about your horse, and always have a supplie of the above! Also talk to your vet about other things you may want to keep handy! You can never be too prepared, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try!
