Grand Theft Auto is arguably the best video game to be released to the public to play in many different qualities.
The three different versions of the game that are most remembered and played are GTA3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. There were previous versions before this such as GTA, GTA2, GTA: London, etc. but these were the golden games.
GTA3:
You play an unknown male figure that does not speak once throughout the entire game. It takes place in Liberty City, which is the equivalent of New York City. The year of it could be anywhere from the 90's to present time. The storyline is not too strong, but it was the first of the series. Even with its flaws, it was a huge hit in the game world. This game does get repetitive after a while, but it's definitely worth the buy. You kill, get money. You blow stuff up, get money. You kill more, get more money. It's simple and fun.
GTA: Vice City:
Years after the huge hit and first of the series GTA3, Vice City is released and redefines the fun of GTA. Vice City held a very strong storyline. You are a drug trafficker and have to slowly inch your way up to the top to become a power in Vice City. Many people say it is very similar to that of the hit movie, "Scarface." It takes place in Vice City, which resembles Miami in the 80's. The soundtrack makes you feel very into that 80's time. The game ends very story unlike GTA3. You end with people backing you up and you feel like you have support to run the city. Again, very strong storyline and very good gameplay. Definitely worth the money.
GTA: San Andreas:
Without a doubt, the strongest of the GTA series. You play as a gangster in California in the 90's. Your name is Carl Johnson, or CJ. The map in the game is gigantic. You could explore and always find a new place on the map in this game. You don't feel limited at all because they added in statistics for your character, as well as the option to change your appearance. You have to maintain muscle, fat, sex appeal, gun skills, driving skills, etc. The game gets really indepth. Also, you have a lot to do outside of missions, such as make your girlfriend happy or work out at the gym. You can also rob houses whenever you'd like or simply go into a small town and kill everyone. The game holds a very strong and bold storyline throughout the entire time. You never feel bored because every mission gets you somewhere new. The story has a lot of twists with the people you associate with dealing with trust and betrayal. Again, without a doubt this is arguably the best of the series and worth every cent of the money you spend on it. This game will not let you down.
Now, for the people like me who have enjoyed every minute of playing these games, but have reached the dreaded end, don't fear, GTA4 is almost here! Coming out late 2007 or early 2008, this might be the best of the series, but no one can tell for sure yet.
Hold tight gamers, and have fun!
