son accepting an abusive and controlling relationship and remain blind to it's true nature. I have lost a home, and worked as a telemarketer out of desperation throughout all of these trials.
Yet, despite all of these things, I was shown many times over that there are good people out there, and that even though I may never know the 'why' of it all.... everything, Everything happens for a reason. I'm here to tell you that Pandora's Gift, Hope, truly does remain at the bottom of everything. So, I wanted to share with you these thoughts and experiences, and especially the things that have kept me going throughout the darkest time in my life.
Top Ten Things That Keep Me Positive and Sane:
1. Crying: (A lot, lol) The most purging tool given to us. It'll exhaust you, but you'll be better for it. You don't have to take my word for it though... "There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief.. and unspeakable love." Washington Irving "Tears are words the heart can't express" Unknown .and "Let tears flow of their own accord: their flowing is not inconsistent with inward peace and harmony." Seneca. These and many others who have gone before us would all seem to agree.
2. Religion/Prayer: Whatever your beliefs, turn to them and ask your God to support you during your trials. You Will be answered. (If you are an Atheist...well, you're kinda on your own lol.) Taking just five minutes out of my day, by myself, to prayerfully meditate, and simply be thankful kept me from sliding off the edge of sanity more times than I care to remember. Sometimes, our own troubles clamor in our ears and hearts so loudly that we become almost deaf to the good in our lives. Whenever I have been at my absolute lowest though, whenever I despair that all Mankind must surely be corrupt and indifferent to it's fellows... some kind stranger appears along my path to prove me wrong.
3. Increasing exercise and improving diet: For the first time in 36 years, stress was affecting me physically. Besides symptoms I've already mentioned, fatigue had me by the throat and it was hard to even find the strength to be positive about anything. I began researching diet and it's impact on stress. I increased foods and beverages noted for their anti-oxidant natures, like green tea and blueberries. Blueberries, not my favorite fruit, but amazingly good for combating memory loss as well. More
