It is almost September and with September comes a vast majority of school openings. Amongst all the hustle and bustle of juggling schedules and carpools, have you thought about what you are going to pack into your children's lunch boxes? I am going to give you some ideas on how to spice up your children's normal lunch with some different alternatives.
Lunch box tip #1. Try a different kind of bread- Instead of plain white bread to make a sandwich for your children's lunch box try something different. There are numerous alternatives to plain white bread, some ideas to consider would be: whole wheat bread, pita bread, tortilla's, focaccia bread,lavish bread,rye bread, crackers, bagels, baguettes, rice cakes or even plain lettuce. Just use any of these alternatives as you would plain white bread.
Lunch box tip #2. Don't forget the condiments- Try some different combinations of tastes together for a new twist on the regular sandwich in your children's lunch boxes. There are a wide variety of condiments besides the regular ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise that your children can incorporate into their own unique sandwich. Some ideas to consider for condiments would be: cashew butter, almond butter, hazelnut butter, pumpkin butter,apple butter, hummus, cream cheese, brie cheese, goat cheese, blue cheese, jam, jelly, pesto, tomato sauce, pizza sauce, mashed avocado, mashed banana or even honey all serve as wonderful condiment choices for your children's sandwiches in their lunch boxes.
Lunch box tip #3. Fillings or what is in the sandwich- Some children have a favorite sandwich that they want to take daily in their lunch boxes, while other children do not mind a change in their lunch box menu. Create some wonderful sandwich combinations by using any of the following ingredients: shredded carrots, low fat cheese, tuna, tuna salad, chicken breast, chicken salad, smoked salmon, tofu, sprouts, sliced cucumber, sliced avocado, shrimp, shrimp salad or egg salad are wonderful ways to add some different types of sandwiches to your children's lunch boxes.
Lunch box tip #4. Add some fruit to their lunch boxes- Fruit is a wonderful way to give children a healthy snack in their lunch boxes. You can put fresh fruit or dried fruit into your children's lunch boxes. Some great fruit ideas for your children's lunch boxes could be: watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, oranges, pears, kiwi, pomegranates,cherries,avocado, bananas,apricots,
