7 of first 8 passes in last nights pre-season opener.
If the Bengals can keep there off the field antics from interfering from their on
the field performance, we may have a new NFL MVP this year.
3. Drew Brees, NO. (4418 yards, 26 TD, 11 INT)
THE BUZZ: Expect Drew to pick up right where he left off last year. He will have a better grasp on the system, and Marques Colston and Devery Henderson are two receivers with high expectations this year. Lost Joe Horn, but picked up
one of most talented rookies in draft, Robert Meachum of Tennessee.
4. Tom Brady, NE. (3529 yards, 24 TD, 12 INT)
THE BUZZ: Not only does the loss of Corey Dillon mean that Tom Brady's
arm will see much more action this year, Brady also has a solid receiving corps
for the first time in his already illustrious career. The Pats picked up receivers
Dontae Stallworth and Randy Moss, not to mention another solid veteran named
Brady, Tight End Kyle.
5. Marc Bulger, St.L. (4301 yards, 24 TD, 8 INT)
THE BUZZ: Bulger had an amazing 2006 season despite the new playbook brought in by headcoach Scott Linehan. All receivers from last years group will
return, and he also has a little more help in the forms of Drew Bennett and Randy McMichael.
6. Donovan Mcnabb, Phi. (2647 yards, 18 TD, 6 INT)
THE BUZZ: Would be top 3 if it weren't for the injuries. Was on top of NFC
in nearly every statistical category before his injuries last year. It is a go hard or go home year for McNabb, as the Eagles drafted rookie QB Kevin Kolb. I expect
this to ignite McNabbs flame, but like I said, there's always the injury possibilities. You'll have an amazing starter for your team, but make sure you get
a very dependable backup.
7. Philip Rivers, SD. (3388 yards, 22 TD, 9 INT)
THE BUZZ: Not to take anything away from the best back since Barry Sanders,
but I don't think Ladanian Tomlinson can put up another season with 28 rushing
touchdowns. The Chargers will however put up around the same number of points per game in my opinion, and these points will come by way of this NC State Grad's arm. In his first year as an NFL Starter, Rivers pout up amazing numbers. I don't expect to see a sophomore slump with this one.
8. Eli Manning, NYG. (3244 yards, 24 TD, 18 INT)
THE BUZZ: Tiki Barber's retirement means that the New York Giants will be
launching 35-40 passes a game. Whether or not Peyton's little bro' can handle
the added workload remains to be seen. Could end up being the steal of draft type guy if he has a break out year.
9. Tony Romo, Dallas. (2903 yards, 19 TD, 13 INT)
THE BUZZ: I think Parcells was too rough on the guy. I mean he started off amazing, the Tuna got on his case anyway, and it all went downhill. I can remember the same thing happening with many young players that had to deal with the coach. With Wade Phillips in office, it seems like Romo is happy, and so is T.O. That could mean big things in "Big D'."
10. Ben Rothelisberger, Pitt. (3513 yards, 18 TD, 23 INT)
THE BUZZ: This year will be a definitive one in the career of Big Ben.
He encountered one of the biggest sophomore slumps in history last season,
one where he threw more interceptions than touchdowns. Without the Bus,
Cowher's coaching style just didn't work for the Steelers. Hopefully their new Head Coach can help rejuvenate Benny.
THE SLEEPERS (GOOD LATE RATE PICKS):
1. Matt Leinart, Arizona.
2. Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay.
3. Vince Young, Tennessee.
That raps things up! Make sure you get one of the Quarterbacks in the top 10 as a starter, or you'll be in trouble. If you get 2, you'll have amazing trade bait come week 3 or 4. Trust me.
