A blind date is one whereby the two parties involved do not know each other, or at least not well. As such, the purpose of the date is to get to know each other better, or to put it bluntly, to find out whether the person you're dating meets your standards. This however, does not mean that you should make the date an interview.

Basic courtesy like maintaining basic personal hygiene i.e. grooming yourself properly prior to the date cannot be stressed more. On blind dates, first impressions go a long way, well, at least longer than that of a conventional date, where you would have already made your impression before the girl/guy agreed to go out with you. Dress up for the occasion. You don't have to be in your prom dresses or suits, but putting in effort to look nice will impress your date and make him/her feel appreciated.

It doesn't have to be an expensive dinner date! As we all know, it's expected of the man to pay for the first date, and it is unwise to spend tonnes of money on a blind date, unless of course you are too rich and have too much money to spare. In that case, you can simply put the money to good use by giving them to me. Cheers. Right. Before we sidetrack too much, lets unveil the reason why. Because the money can be spent to better effect! If you set the date in an expensive restaurant, it is likely that you will spend almost the whole duration of the date there. This kind of setting hardly gives your date a chance to find out more about yourself.

There are many inexpensive ways to have fun with your date, and they don't have to be cheapskate.What do you like to do? Invite your date to do something that you are passionate about. (Okay guys, this isn't the cue to invite your date over for sex right away, though it might work on certain girls.) Bring your date to an art exhibition, a theme park, to play some pool, play beach volleyball etc. The possibilities are endless! After all, you are trying to find out if your date's interests are in line with yours, or at least whether they could live with your hobbies. (Girls, please don't bring your guy to a nails parlor unless you are pretty damn sure he is metro.)

Talk to him/her. Do not ask dry questions like how much they earn, where they school, where they live etc. These are boring details that you can find out as time goes by. Ask them about their passions, their dreams. Talk about what interests them. Be curious and don't be afraid to share a few stories of your own. Guys, keep the bragging to low limits. You are not going to brag your way into her pants.

IF you followed the above tips, you should have enjoyed yourself pretty much. Don't forget to thank him/her for the date and tell him/her that you would love to see them again, if you truly are, of course.
