Sunrise in Yoncalla, Oregon
Mists slowly snake their way from the mountain tops shrouding the trees with cool fingers. Dawn's pink clouds stretch and blend with the veil of white. Slowly the eastern sky lights up in Jehovah's canvass of beauty while the rays of the sun start to illuminate the landscape.
The tops of the firs in the distance barely show above the display of thin clouds of white crowning the peaks with touches of pinks on the edges. Proud stands of Oaks, Alder and maple trees gracefully adorn the lower slopes as the sunrise allows the details of the scene to come about.
Now the scene changes from the distant high ground to the valleys below. Soon the sky's pinkish colored clouds stretch across the horizon. The misted hills become visible as the misty fog descends and settles over ponds, creeks and streams. It is as if a soft layered coating of white had been carefully laid in place on the floors of the little valleys as they gradually become more detailed.
The decent of mist from the peaks to the valleys is so subtle but soon the azure sky brightens the vistas. Like the humps of a camel, the slow rolling hills of green becomes clearer as livestock grazing upon them dot the hillsides oblivious to any observers of the pastoral scene. Carpets of wildflowers accent the grassland with lively shades of red and white with a mixture blue making it a pleasure to be alive. Creation unfolds its beauty for all to see on such a glorious spring morning around the area I have come to love.
