I don't get it, most, geeks, atheists? I have been around and have been considered a geek for about 40 years now and this statement is out there.
As far as me, and my friends, being geeks that is true; but, the atheist thing is a little off base. I can't speak for everyone but I am sure there are some other professional type people who are atheists and maybe in great numbers.
As for this group of geeks I have so subtly associated myself with we wnt through the phase of religious theory and proof. We studied christianity, hinuism, buddism, the flower children, and the list goes on. We cannot leave out hte big bang theory, or the theory of evolution either. We still have debates but what I must let you know that the writings of the bible have been around for a long time and their is writtten manuscripts. Sure, there are even manuscripts that are left out that we haven't seen and what does it tell us? It tells us that there must be something there something in the past that makes it real.
As far as the science aspect and the being able to prove or disprove, ahhh you just gotta go with the punches. Take Darwin for example with his theory of evolution. Do people evolve? Yes, it is a proven fact. Did we evolve from an animal? Hardly. Did man look like us 10,000 years ago? No! Of course not. He didn't have refrigerators, microwaves, showers and a wide variety of foods to choose from; so, needless to say, I bet he had some massive molars to eat that raw meat.
To classify anyone with a stereotype like "geeks" is one thing but to say that we disbelieve in the obvious becuse it can't be proven is bogus. Do you believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy? No and I am sure the majority of people will tell you so. Why do they believe in God? Maybe it is because along with "your stories"
comes something you lack which is called Faith.
You know one more thing, you can even go to the Mayan civilization and research what they said and did. I don't know if their beliefs were right but they became extinct believing in them; but, assuming just their beliefs not the truth of it, they predict the world will end in the year 2012 and what there prediction said was that God will come. Believe it or not they lived in a time that they should know what was taught about Jesus since Geeks have pinpointed their time to a certain year brefore Christ through about 1600 years after Christ. This being said I believe you could say their were there before during and after. Did they know something we don't know? Ask a geek!
