You are setting your standards when you choose the college where you plan on getting your degree in esthetician and skin care so beware. Research well and find the school best suited for you before you register. Remember, the study of esthetician and skin care based on the European approach requires 1,000 credit hours with a minium of nine months of training in preparation for state board licensing as an esthetician.
This may seem like a lot, but it is very important that you: Consider the college's professionalism, basic to advanced facials with and without machines; bacteriology regarding body waxing; body treatments regarding massage, wraps, cellulite; skin recognition and treatment for normal, oily, aging, and dehydrating skin; study of the nerves, blood; study of skin disease and disorders; knowledge of medical terminology, fungus and treatments; recognizing and dealing with communicable diseases; microdermabrasion; as well as the business end of spa management..
Remember, aesthetic can be very delegate work and requires depths of knowledge from skin care to spa treatment service. You might also want to consider a school that offers advanced training, knowledge of various products, nail care programs and graduate placement.
Pick a school that promises the best studies in the science of skin care, body care, hair removal and makeup.
