Don't get me wrong, I'm a native Californian, and I love all of the wonderful amusement parks in my beautiful state, but in all honesty, I think that when bringing children up these days it is our duties as parents to counteract the "technological advances" of society a little by getting our kids back to nature.

In a day and age where almost every ten year old carries a cell phone, has a Myspace account, spends hours in front of the television watching shows or playing video games, I believe that families should bring nature back to the forefront. Now, trust me, most children are not going to be extremely pleased when you announce that this year's vacation is going to be five days camping in Yosemite rather than a three day deluxe stay at the "Grand Californian Hotel" at "Disney's California Adventure", but also trust me when I say that it will not only be good for their health, but good for them mentally to have a forced break from the "hurried lifestyle" that we all live.

Enjoy your children and show them that there are other things to do besides riding thrill rides and staying in luxury hotels...show your children that the true treasures of this earth are found in places that are secluded and out of the way. Escape the "concrete jungle" and visit a real one for a change!
