I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls. I am also expecting our first son this Christmas. Only one of these children were "planned" but each and every one WAS and IS wanted. I agree that a woman should have restrictions placed on abortion. If pregnancy is a threat to the mothers life, I agree that the pregnancy should be terminated, but abortion should NOT under any circumstances be used as a method of birth control!
When I got pregnant at age 16 with my first daughter, my mother tried and tried to convince me to get an abortion. I refused, I really wanted this baby, even though I was not able to properly support her. If worse came to worse, there was the adoption route. I could not fathom killing my child, no matter what everyone said to me: "It's not even a baby yet" "It is just a blob of cells" WHATEVER! Recently, I was looking online to find what a 12 week old fetus looked like. I wanted to know how far this baby I am carrying now has come in just 3 short months. I typed into google images: "12 week old fetus" and it brought up the usual 7 million pictures. As I was scrolling along, I noticed a picture of a tiny baby. He looked like he had just been born, so I clicked on it.
The article was from a nurse telling of her first experiences with abortions. She said the first day she assisted in a first trimester abortion, and on the second day, a second trimester abortion. On her third day, she assisted the doctor with an abortion of a 21 week old baby. Notice I did not say fetus here. The mother had discovered that the baby would be born with down syndrome, and decided that it was best for him not to be brought into this world. The nurse said that the doctor used the forceps to reach in and pull out the baby, feet first. He delivered all but the head. Keep in mind folks, this baby was still very much alive! He then, to the horror of the nurse, stabbed the baby in the back of the head with his scissors. The nurse said the baby jumped, as if he was about to fall. The doctor then opened up the scissors to create a hole big enough to stick the suction tip into. He proceeded to suck out this poor baby's brains. When he was finished, he delivered the now dead baby, and TOSSED him into the pan with all of the surgical tools!
I urge each and every one of you to open a new window in your browser now. Go to google, and type in: "12 week old fetus", hit enter, and watch as the pictures of very little people are shown. I want you to click on any of those pictures, and tell me that what you see is not in fact, a baby. Please, tell me that it is just a "blob of tissue" that has no recognizable human traits or features. You can't can you?
I found a link to a very informative website that I want you to visit. I must warn each of you however, this is a very graphic and heart wrenching video that is probably not suitable for anyone under the age of 14, unless they themselves are planning to have an abortion. In this case, by all means, they need to know exactly what will happen during this abortion. Simply copy and paste into the browser: http://www.silentscream.org/vi deo1.htm
Skip Part one, it is just the doctor talking about ultrasounds. Part Two is what I want you to hear, but continue to the end if you like. I personally did not have the heart to continue after watching Part Two.
ANY abortion after week 8 should not be legal. Especially the way abortions are performed. At this point, it is no longer a fetus to me, it is a baby, plain and simple. Now, after reading this, do any of you still think abortion should be ok?
