Do I respect Barry Bonds? Yes I do. I have no reason not to. The man has just broke the most hallowed record in sports, and will probably go out on top. He has won many M.V.P. awards, and has played in the playoffs many times.

Everyone keeps bringing up the steroid situation. What no one takes into account the fact that Bonds was one of the games best home run hitters. This goes all the way back to when he played for Pittsburgh. Bonds hit 16 home runs in his first year in the big leagues. He then followed that up with 25 in his second year. He played in thirty seven more games that year. Lets also keep in mind that 25 home runs in 1987 was really good. His numbers stayed between 20, and 35 home runs over the next few years. Nobody was saying anything about steroids then. When Bonds went to San Fransisco in 93' his numbers started to go up. This is nothing special. Most players numbers will go up if they are in the right atmosphere. Bonds did not hit below thirty three home runs from 92' to 04'. That is a twelve year period with no major time missed, and no major injuries. If Bonds was doing steroids at the time he would have got hurt during that stretch.

The funny thing is that when Mark Mcgwire broke the single season home run record there was nothing said about steroids. He was using something to help him. He was caught with the stuff in his locker, but it was swept under the rug. That is until after his career was over. If you want to point your finger at a cheater there you go. Mark Mcgwire was caught red handed, and there is nothing anyone can say about it.

The thing about it is this. The hardest thing to do is hit a round ball with a round bat. So whether your name is Mark Mcgwire, or Barry Bonds you still have to make contact. The ball will not go anywhere if you don't hit first. Barry Bonds made contact 757 times now. So do I have respect for Barry Bonds, and him breaking the home run record? Your damn right I do.
