On 9/11, God was where He always is, sitting on His Throne, watching His creations. To God, this was not a shock as it was to us, as God knows our thoughts and has known us since before we were born.
We think of the terrorists as the bad guys and we think of us as good people. We judge these thoughts by the things we see and consider correct or the right thing to do. We focus on the things we can see because it is hard to see what is in one's heart. But God knows the heart.
In many ways people consider the planet Earth as heaven. Now they wouldn't admit to that because it is an underlying thought. And, because they believe in God, they feel bad things should not happen to them on earth. They consider that the earth is their's because they believe in God.
But, in 2 Thessalonians, Paul reminds them that there will be trials and tribulations they are going to have to face. We have no promise of escape from the tragedies of life. As the bad of the earth get to taste the goodness of God, the good get to taste the heartache of not having God. The fight between good and evil is not over. The promise is there but the time is not done.
As I sat in shock that day, one of my first thoughts was of how it was going to change the world we live in and know. The future would certainly be different from what it was minutes before. God always brings His plans into being in ways that would never occur to us. And we had been very cocky in our attitudes. We even voted God out of certain public places and then wanted to know where He was when this happened.
Many Christians still fear death and think of it as a sin or a flaw, not a reward, or a time that someone is to go home to be with God. And, too, how we die, makes a great impact on our lives. As we watched over and over again of all of those deaths, we wonder how God could do that. But think of how His Son died and think especially of Mary at the foot of the cross, watching what they were physically doing to her Son.
The mind blowing thing to me was how God made sure the right people where there at the right time. Anyone who has tried to put on any kind of gathering knows how hard it is to get everyone to do the right thing at the right time. People who were suppose to be there where held up by one thing or another. People changed plans so they could be on flights that they originally had not planned being on.
God had to have the right people on Flight 93 in order for the heroism that occurred. And as much as we don't like it, the people that where suppose to die were right where they were suppose to be. The firefighters, police, and ambulance people were all the right ones for what was going to happen. God makes no mistakes. Everyone was in place. I find that blows my mind.
Where was God on 9/11? Right where He was suppose to be; welcoming His children home. How they got there was not important as horrid as that sounds. He wiped the tears and took the pain away. Everyone, including God, was where they were suppose to be.
