There are several things to take into consideration, when purchasing a Dinning Room table. Remember, you are not just going out shopping to throw away money. Well, if you are not rich that's not the goal. The goal is to get something good for you money. Something of quality is what you want.
Think about the people who will eat at this table. I'm not just saying, have an envisioned picture in your head, about all the great meals your family will enjoy at this table. Even though, that is a good idea. I am saying, think about the people here now; and, the ones that may come. Are the people who will eat at this table thin? Or, do they "have a little meat on their bones." Are they tall? or are they short? Is this table cut in such a way, that it would be easy to pull up a high chair, and the person fit in? Will this table accommodate a wheelchair?

Now, that you have thought about the people eating at the table. Now, think about how big the dining area is. What are the measurements of the walls? Sometimes, you don't even have to measure. If you have a "Breakfast nook " for a dining room, there is no reason to go buy a twenty-five foot Kings Table. {Well, if you are thinking about moving; and, you know in the new house it will fit perfect, than fine.} I hate to tell you to go into the store with a measuring tape. But, to prevent wasting money; and, to make sure you get the table at the right length. A measuring tape quickly becomes an option.
Think about the theme you have going already. You don't want a black lacquer table, in a completely country themed house. Wait a minute! Some people might make that work. Ok, you don't want the decorative theme in your dinning room, to clash with the table that you pick. You want it to all blends together.
Finally, think about the times you will share at this table. Will this table be just a table that you will use when company comes over? Will this be the table to pile all the junk? Will you only use it for semi-formal events, or Sunday dinner only? Or will it be the place where you just so happen to eat? Will you make this the one place for the family to meet daily? Will this be the place that will be in the video of a Birthday party?
These are some things to take under advisement, while shopping for a dinning room table.
