In a sense, to get yourself promoted is to "sell" yourself - you "sell" yourself to your boss, to colleagues, to your customers, to your leaders, and to your followers. If you can "sell" yourself well, you will have more chances to be promoted. This is called self-promotion. In order to realize self-promotion, you are suggested to do the following.

* Build up your image

The basic thing is to package yourself with a nice looking box with a brand. In addition to your knowledge and ability, you should know how to make yourself look nicer than you usually do. Nice dress, a motivated slogan, quick at work etc. will be your image, and keep it, later on it will become your brand. Your colleagues may say he/she is a person working very fast and effectively. That's a kind of brand of your own. You must know the President famous for his double "V" signature. That's his brand!

* Work with an advisor

Apart from image building, you need an advisor to guide. The advisor can be your family member, or anyone who have more experience and skillful than you. You can learn a lot from him or her, and in turn, you broaden your eyesight, and personal relationship. It is wise to learn from the others, and then use what you learned.

* Build up your network

Further, build up your own network by taking part in activities, joining organizations, and clubs, etc. Your family members, colleagues, friends, customers, and so on are all the persons that you can network with. Also, register online for circles, there are millions of persons using circles to expand his or her network, and this kind of networking is very effective, and fast. Among your network, remember to show your image, to sell yourself to them, and don't be modest, though modest can be a virtue. Broadcast to them about your image, and your abilities, skills etc.

* Be a good member in your team

Don't complain in your work team, and try to shoulder more responsibility if there is something wrong. It may hurt you badly at that time of your shouldering the responsibility, however, you can gain respect and faith from the others, which cannot get by money and force.

* Seize all chances to take part in training programs

Pay attention to your continuing education and training courses. Use the chance to learn and to sell yourself, and make friends with the others. This is an indirect way to do self-promotion.

* Be social and friendly

Talking about personal relationships, be social, and friendly. Help others, especially when they are in troubles. Be generous to the others, and be strict with yourself. You'll find this suggestion is more than useful in your life. You can benefit a lot.
