Lottery scams are extremely easy to tell but still there are individuals who had fallen into these traps and lost dearly. Let us just understand the emotional perception of average human being. All if not most people like to win, it is a psychological effect of feeling extremely good and thrilled. So it eliminates your doubt by making it sound extremely real by drawing relevance to the average contests you know in reality. While Internet is a virtual world of unlimited possibilities, most 'scammers' leveraged technology to bring their baits to you.
First of all, the most widely used tool to scam people like us is email. It is not just any emails, there are usually spam mails. But why spam mail? Technically, they cannot be just going around collecting emails and send them manually, it is extremely ineffective and tedious. There is no formula to determine whether an advertising mail is a scam, but you would probably discern whether or not it is a spam. Emails being sent to you are primarily people whom you have given the address to or due to some signing up agreement.
If an unfamiliar entity sends a mail that inform you that you won a great amount of money to you, whom you are very sure that you have not sign up with, it is probably a spam and a scam mail. Consequently, you may want to keep tabs on the web site which you have sign up to counter check. On the note of personal experience, I have received some mails, which contain massive wording, in some instances, trying to get your assistance, but in exchange letting inherit millions of dollars. Well, it sounds too good to be true, and I believed it probably is. So if you really had won something, it should not be coming from a mail which you need to read from your 'Spam' mail filtered section.
As you know, all lottery or contest related program comes with a sets of terms and regulations. But with regulations like you need to be a member before taking the 'one million dollars' which you had won as according to them, may sound too good to be true. Well it probably is. Lottery scams do not usually have other contact details like addresses or phone contact apart from that email address which was used to send the mail. If you really want to satisfy yourself, verify by calling them, you probably would be able to get through. Even if you got through, the answers that you would received would be those asking you for money.
Check www.scams.com for related issues. You would probably find that someone have already posted exactly what you had received and you would be able to make out at that instance it would be a scam. Similarly, if its not on the forum, post it there, ask for inputs before making any decision that could burnt a hole in your pocket.
