If the Bible doesn't specify that something is wrong, does it mean it's okay

If the Bible doesn't say that something is wrong, does it mean it's okay? Even if it is bad?

Not every problem you have is specifically named in the Bible.

A friend asks you to go to a party where you know they will be doing drugs. The Bible doesn't specifically say "Don't do drugs!" So what do you do?

The Bible might not talk about drugs, but it does tell you that you are the temple of the Holy Ghost (I Corinthians 6:19). It also says that you shouldn't be in bondage to anything (Galatians 1:5).

Should you tattoo your body? The Bible doesn't say "Don't tattoo your body." However it does tell you not to mark your body (Leviticus 19:28).

Should you look at pornography on the Internet or in magazines?

The Bible doesn't specifically say "No," but it does say that any man who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery in his heart (Matthew 5:28). And it speaks of a spirit of lust, which takes over when people watch or look at pornography.

The Bible doesn't address some subjects directly. However, it does comment on the main issues. Instead of mentioning pornography, it talks about lust. For drugs, it talks about not being in bondage to anything (Galatians 1:5).

But what do you do in a gray situation, such as when you find out your friend's boyfriend is cheating on her? Do you tell your friend and risk that she might think you are jealous or lying? Or do you keep it quiet? If she finds out you knew and didn't tell her, she could terminate your friendship. Either way, your relationship with her is in jeopardy.

This is where you have to follow a few guidelines:

Let peace rule in your heart. When you have a decision to make, get quiet and find out if you have peace about it. If you don't, don't do it! If you do have peace, go ahead. Make sure that you truly have peace otherwise you will make a mistake.

Pray about it. You don't have to get on your knees or say "thee"s and "thou"s. All you have to do is talk to God. Tell Him the situation and then wait for Him to answer. You may get a Scripture, a thought, an impression or you might actually hear God speak to your spirit. Don't do anything until you hear from God.

Consult the counsel of wise people. When in doubt, consult people who you consider to be wiseyour parents, your pastor, your teachers, your older siblings. Don't ask those people who are involved with the situation, or people who are not morally-directed. Instead seek out the opinion of someone you trust.
